Tasting Notes
2022 Jewelstone Chardonnay
The colour is a bright pale straw. The nose is alluring and complex with aromas of grapefruit, lemon meringue and peach blossom. The barrel fermentation imparts butterscotch, brioche and hazelnut character.
The palate bursts with intense flavours carried through from the nose. The acidity is in perfect balance keeping the wine fresh and mouthwatering. This wine is deliciously rich and full with a long length. The extended barrel maturation has helped seamlessly integrate the oak and lend creaminess to the palate.

Estate Sauvignon Blanc

Cameron Douglas MS | 92 Points

Youthful and precise, elegant and fruity, there’s no mistaking the layer of new French oak in the mix of aromas and enticement. Flavours of yellow and white peach, vanilla and baking spices. As the wine opens out on the palate and becomes more ambient the flavours of baked apple, pear and sweet grapefruit become more apparent. Tannins and acidity frame the fruit core nicely with texture and complexity. Well made, dry, youthful, smooth and ready to drink from late 2024 through 2029.

REGION

REGION REGION

Hawke’s Bay

Located on the east coast of the North Island, Hawke's Bay wine region is one of the warmest winegrowing regions in New Zealand. The long and warm growing season provides for excellent ripening conditions and full flavour development.

New Zealand Winegrowing

Central to the success of New Zealand as a world-renowned wine growing region is the temperate maritime climate and the free-draining alluvial soils.

The growing season is long, providing perfect conditions for slow ripening and full flavour development. Cool nights and warm days retain fruit acidity which lends a freshness and vibrancy, highly characteristic of New Zealand wine styles.

Soils

Gravel beds, free-draining alluvial soils and stony terraces.
